![]() ![]() During the last two years, Mike has been experimenting with various musicians to produce 'The Standard Lamps' which consists of James Livett on bass and Matt Bennie on drums. With their first EP ‘Portland’ (2010), debut album ‘Sell Everything You Own’.įormed in late 2009 by Mike Wilton, The Standard Lamps believe that it's about time that we took things back to basics. Playing countless gigs in the South East, The Standard Lamps have been pleasing audiences since early 2010. They are a modern incarnation of the three-piece, powerhouse, stripped back rock bands such Dr Feelgood and The Who, that the British uniquely produce." Of The Standard Lamps, comprising singer and guitarist Mike Wilton, bassist James Livett and drummer Matt Bennie, Lisa says: "I was so impressed with them when they supported Wilko at the Forum. The Lamps were more than happy to say yes, as Mike Wilton, lead singer and guitarist, relates: "It was a great honour to be asked, as Wilko is a massive influence in terms of his unique guitar style and stage presence." Wilko and Roger were playing there to promote their upcoming joint album Going Back Home. The Standard Lamps are a three-piece band from the South, playing feel-good music with a blues edge.įollowing a gig in January 2014 at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, where they supported the Wilko Johnson Band, Wilko's manager Lisa Climie approached them to support Wilko and Roger Daltrey at a one-off gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire the following month. ![]()
